The Florida School Experience…A Little History…
The Florida School was established and first opened its doors in May of 1993. The first official School Manager was Robin Phillips, Past President of the FPP. Stewart Powers, also a Past President, was the driving force behind the  School’s concept. Other Past School Managers thru the years were Peggy McAteer, Nancy Soles, Robin Phillips and now rests in the capable hands of Marybeth Jackson-Hamberger (now in her 11th year).

The School has always been held on campus at the Daytona State College in Daytona, Florida. Patrick Van Dusen and DSC has always been a great supporter of the FPP; and has graciously provided the perfect venue for the Florida School.  Patrick will be retiring from Daytona State College in 2010. We want to express how grateful we are for all his help over the past 18 years and wish him well.  We hope to continue to see him at DSC as an advisor, liaison or even as a FPP student in the future!

The success of the Florida School can be measured by its popularity within the membership as well as its out-of-state attendees. The number of classes have grown every year.

The Format…
It’s this simple. The Florida School takes place once a year for one week only (Sunday, May 23 – Thursday, May 27, 2010). You sign up for one class by one instructor. For 5 days in May you’ll be treated to an intense learning opportunity being taught by one of the industry’s most knowledgeable photographers. Not only do you gain the information necessary to become a better photographer, you gain a whole new circle of friends who share the same aspirations and goals as yourself. This is what makes the Florida School so special.

In 2010; we are offering two day courses for those individuals that cannot attend for 5 days.  Classes will on Sunday, May 23rd and Monday, May 24th.  As always , please check the website information for details of course contents and what you may need to bring to class.

Orientation will take place at the Goddard Theatre Building located on the Daytona State College campus.  Please join us for our opening ceremonies and registration; featuring some light refreshments, (sponsored by Reedy Photoprocess) brief announcements and information for the week.
