The Becker Award (Competition) est 1982
The Becker Award was established in 1982 in honor of Robert “Bobby” Becker who died on July 9, 1982 along with fellow FPP member Elaine Kahn, when their flight, Pan Am 759 crashed, shortly after taking off from New Orleans International Airport. Becker was a fierce competitor and had garnered many, many awards during his time with the FPP. This award recognizes the most creative image in the competition and is the crown jewel of all our competition awards.

Kodak 50th Anniversary Award (Competition) 1985-2002
This Competition Award began in 1985, the anniversary of the 50th Convention of the FPP. It was presented to the FPP’s Top Photographer, based on their overall total case score at the annual competition, with the precondition that they must have merited all six entries. In 1997 the award (a beautiful crystal piece) succumed to the overwhelming force of gravity and met an untimely demise with the floor. A new award was designed and retitled the PAST PRESIDENT’S AWARD (affectionately dubbed “The Coffin”), and continued to recognize Florida’s Top Photographer based soley on highest case score. In 2008, the Past President’s Award was removed from the Salon Awards and presented as a separate award to recognize someone of great service to the organization.
